Hospitality, Choice, and Community: What to Expect When You Shop at FYCO

If you have ever felt nervous about asking for help, we want you to know one thing: At FYCO, you are our guest. We don’t just hand out prepacked bags through a window. We’ve designed an experience that prioritizes your dignity, your time, and your family's unique needs.

A Welcoming Start We value your time. To ensure fairness, we use a lottery system. Doors will open approximately 15 minutes before we start and everyone is given a random number for shopping. This eliminates the need to show up hours early to get a good spot. Everyone who is there when we open the doors has an equal chance to shop first, allowing for a relaxed, stress free start to your visit.

More Than a Waiting Room: A Hub of Support

While you wait for your number to be called, you aren't just sitting in a chair. You are invited into our gym, a space filled with hospitality.

Partner Agencies: We host vendor tables featuring local experts like free health clinics, veteran’s services, energy assistance, and the Purdue Extension.

Friendship: Our goal is hospitality. Our volunteers pass out a snack while you relax at our round tables. Often, we have a food expert who will offer recipes and a taste test.

The Shopping Experience: Choice and Assistance

When your number is called, you’ll head to the store where the focus is on your family’s preferences. We have shopping carts and boxes so no need to bring your own.

Personal Shoppers: You will be paired with a volunteer assistant to help you advocate for yourself, allowing you to select items your family will actually use.

Full Choice: You’ll choose from several categories, including USDA commodities, shelf stable staples, frozen meats, fresh produce from our garden, bread, and toiletries.

To Your Car: Once you’re finished, our volunteers will help you out to your vehicle and load your groceries for you.

Everyone is welcome. We have no residency restrictions and no ID requirements. Each household is welcome to shop in our choice pantry one time per month

First Wednesday of the month: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Third Tuesday of the month: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
