The Power of Proactive Partnership: Why Collaboration is the Key to a Stronger Community

No one should have to navigate a crisis alone. For a family struggling with food insecurity, the fix is rarely just a box of groceries; it's often a complex puzzle involving healthcare, housing, and child safety. At Fremont Youth and Community Outreach (FYCO), we don't try to solve every problem ourselves. Instead, we act as the hub for a network of over 40 local partners.
The Strategy: Collective Impact
In our 20+ years of service, we’ve learned that the most effective way to help a neighbor is to ensure there is no wrong door. If someone comes to us for food but needs other types of support, we have a direct line to help them.
Our Network: We partner with many service organizations to best serve our neighbors. From health agencies (mental and physical) to energy assistance, workforce assistance, veteran and children's services, and many others, we have a network of organizations to help struggling families.
Cameron Health Partnership: A prime example of this is our work with Cameron Health. Together, we assist neighbors newly diagnosed with chronic illnesses who are also facing food insecurity. By providing targeted nutritional support, we help them manage their health and well-being.
Regional Advocacy: Our team sits on regional boards and partnerships to ensure that the specific needs of Steuben County residents are prioritized. We represent the local voice in broader discussions about resource allocation and community well-being.
The FYCO Advantage
As the largest food pantry in Steuben County as well as the vetting organization for CarePortal, we serve as the central nervous system for community needs. When we feed a family or vet a request, we are looking at the whole picture, leveraging our 40+ partners to ensure every family gets exactly what they need to stay stable and together.
Community health is a team sport. Are you part of an organization that wants to join our network? Let's build a stronger region together!
